🍳Cooking Class 🍳 by Azahar

Every Wednesday Room 12 and Room 11 go to Tamaki College for Tech. This term we are doing cooking and our teacher's name is Mrs Tuipolotu.

We train to be high quality chefs. We partner up every week and my buddy is Jack. On the first week we made cupcake donuts.

Last week we cooked a pizza wheel. The pizza wheel was my favourite so far.

I'm enjoying my cooking class this year.

Monitor's Badge by Athens

We finally have this year's monitor badge. I still have mine from last year. It sounds like an easy job but it's not as easy as you think. You have to make sure the kids listen to you, you have to make sure no one's doing anything you wouldn't want them to do and if something does go horribly wrong it would come back to us and it'll be our fault.

I think it's a huge responsibility to look after the class especially if the teacher isn't in the classroom with you. Everyone has a chance to become a good monitor. I am proud to say that I am a 2017 monitor!

🎥 Te Oro Slide Presentation 🎥 by Jack

A couple of weeks ago, some students from Rooms 11 and 12 had the opportunity to form a group and make a slide presentation for Te Oro. Only the best of the best were picked.

The people who were great artists and great writers. They were Me, Mika, Saluselo, Athens, Meana, Maia, Katrina, Min Zin and Isabell. During the first few days, we spent time organising our ideas on what we wanted to do on the slide.

My ideas were to make a pie graph of our local pests, and also a banner. I used different colours for each slide. Our main purpose was to make it interesting, unique and entertaining.

Two more weeks are left and we will be  working on doing a voice over. I can't wait to see our amazing slide show.

Teamwork Leads To Success 📚 by Meana

This year it's all about Learn, Create and Share! Our class is combined with Room 11, and we're always working together and sharing our ideas with each other when we are learning. We're all preparing and studying for our upcoming tests. Since the year 8 students will  be heading off to college next year there will be more opportunities and challenges to face. Now is the time to set our goals.

Mr Grundy's Wood Working by Robati

Every Wednesday Year 7s go to Tamaki College to Mr Grundy's woodwork class. As soon as we learnt the basics of doing housing joints, he showed us a few of his own wooden toys he worked by hand with sharp tools.
We started off with a 320cm length wood. The most important tools are pencil and paper. If you didn't have these two supplies you wouldn't be able to make anything. If you do have them,  you also needed a ruler. The ruler is for measuring your wooden board onto your sheet of paper.
You had to start off writing your name on the top right hand corner of your sheet of paper so Mr Grundy and the other year 7s will know who's it is.

Where's Mrs Golder🤔by Meana

I came to school, only to see that Mrs Golder wasn't here today. Where is she? Why didn't she come to school? Why was there another teacher here? Many questions were going through my head. Then that's when I possibly knew, Mrs Golder was probably sick today. I have to be honest I really wanted her to come to school! Now we can't take our Chromebook's home! Aarrgghh I really hope she comes tomorrow.

Everyday Theatre by Timote

On Friday morning two visitors came into our rooms and started to entertain us with a play about family problems and how to deal with them. The characters were Dave, T, Maria, Becca and Brian.

The play was about T. who had lots of drama in his life. He was 12 years old when his parents Maria and Dave began to argue  a lot and then separated. T's. best friend was Jack who always tried his best to help him out with his problem.

Rooms 11 and 12 had to make a group so that we can make our own role play and actions that showed what had happened in the story so far.

In my group were Min Zin, Henry, Mika, Jack, Azahar and Lupe. Our action was Brain moving in to Maria's place. At the end of that entertainment we were given a small blue card and a badge that said, " Game Master."
