Coach Pete Is Here!!!-By Saluselo

On Tuesday, we had Tennis with Coach Pete. It was pretty nerve-racking because I have no experience with a Tennis racket. Luckily, Coach Pete taught me all through the steps.

I was partnered with Katrina and after a little while, Sosiua joined our group. We started off by hitting the tennis ball at or near the cone.

Then we started a rally and we always swapped after a while if we had three or more people in our team.

I hope that we get more practice in the weeks to come. It was fun!!

Hip Hop. It's been great. -By Katrina.

Hip hop has been great this term.

We first started off with a warm up followed by a game. When all that was finished we then had to get into our groups and practice our routines. After getting into our groups we all then separated apart.

The group I was in had me, Izabella, Pupuke and Alexandra. When my group found out we were going to perform in front of the class we were shocked because it felt terrifying.

To me it felt standing in front of the whole class and dancing felt scary. While dancing I had butterflies in my stomach. I felt like I was the only one who wasn't being energetic but that was fine.

After a long time of dancing I was very sweaty and tired.

Katrina's Duffy Award: The Baby-Sitters Club #10 Logan Likes Mary Anne by Katrina

I was chosen to receive a Duffy book because I had read in the holidays.

I had remembered an old saying and it was "Never judge a book by its cover."

After thinking about that I read the blurb on the back of the book and it said, "It used to be that Mary Anne (character) had to wear her hair in braids and ask her dad before she did anything, but not anymore. Mary Anne has been growing up ... and the Baby-sitters Club members aren't the only ones who've noticed.

Logan Bruno (character) like Mary Anne! He has a dreamy southern accent, he's awfully cute --- and he wants  to join the Baby-sitters Club.

The Baby-sitters aren't sure Logan will make a good club club member and Mary Anne thinks she's  too shy for Logan. Life in the Baby-sitters Club has never been this

complicated------ or this fun!"

It sounded very interesting so I chose it.

Please remember this old saying when you choose a book.

Our Syndicate Assembly- By Julianne.

On the last Monday before the Easter break, Room12 presented a syndicate assembly.

First we started of with a lovely song called This Is Me by: Kesha.

After we sang it we played our little game called "Syndicates got talent." The contestants from each class were Aleki and Ong Minout from Room 9 who danced to a song called Jump, the contestants from Room 10 were Unita and Reality who sang Flashlight by Jessie J and then, when it was finally our turn our presenters Katrina and Pupuke sang a lovely Maori song called Tiaho Mai Ra.

Then the whole Syndicate finished of with our school song♡

Meet The Prefects Of 2018

Kia Ora! My name is Katrina and I’m the head prefect of Ruapotaka School. Being a head prefect means I have to take on more responsibilities than the other 5 prefects combined. I, as head prefect, have to be an excellent role model to all students. I also have to make sure the other prefects are in shape and that they are doing their personal jobs properly. This year is probably going to be very sad because it is my last year as head prefect at this school.

Talofa! My name is Saluselo and I am a year eight student at Ruapotaka School. As a prefect, the title comes with great responsibilities. I am a sports person and I consider myself being an artist. My sister was a prefect too so I should say that prefect blood is in me. It is my last year so I should give it my all as a prefect.

Hi my name is Pupuke, and I am a year eight prefect at Ruapotaka School. As a prefect me and my fellow prefects have to show extreme leadership and be a great role models for our school. We have many goals and tasks to complete together and as individuals. Being a prefect has changed the way I do things in regular living. I have noticed that my actions, my interaction with people online and my fellow classmates have changed. Given the opportunity to be prefect is such a privilege and an honor.

Hello I am Riiana, a year seven prefect. Being a prefect comes with a lot of responsibility which is pretty nerve wracking. As a prefect you’ll be seen as a person to be looked up to so you can’t afford to make many mistakes. I am excited for the future as a prefect even though I’m also nervous about it. I hope my brother becomes a prefect with me too.

Hola, My name is Leanah. I am an intermediate student at Ruapotaka School. I have been chosen to be one of the prefects. Being a prefect means a lot to me because I can act as an idol to other students. I savor the time I have with my friends before we go off to college. Being a prefect has changed my perspective on some things in my life. Although being a prefect is a privilege I like to be treated equally. As an individual I have a lot of goals to achieve, and a lot of responsibilities to carry out.

Talofa! My name is Jessica. I am currently a year seven student at Ruapotaka School. I play a big role at Ruapotaka, I am a prefect. As a prefect have to be a positive role model but that doesn’t stop me from having fun. Being a prefect has definitely changed my perspective on some things in my life,  like how people act towards me. I’ve noticed that people are more friendly with me and a bit more formal. I like to be treated equally as a friend and as a prefect.

Guy Fawkes ๐ŸŽ†๐ŸŽ‰ by Katrina

On the 5th of November most people celebrate Guy Fawkes day. On this people buy fireworks to light up with a lighter and watch the cool looking colours explode into the sky.  It is important to remember about Firework Safety:

1. Make sure children are supervised while holding a firework,

2. Always have a bucket of water near or next to you,

3. Never try to re-light a firework,

4. Make sure the fireworks are legal before buying them at the store.

Poem about the explosion that happened:

Remember Remember the fifth of November Gunpowder, treason plot we see no reason why gun powder treason should ever be forgot.

✏Graphics ✏ by Katrina

Today at Technicraft the year 7/8s were arranged into different classes. Year 7s went to Mr Penida who does Graphics but sadly Mr Penida wasn't there. We had a different teacher instead who's name was Mr Stagg and he taught us year 7s how to write and draw our names in different shapes and types.

Technicraft was exciting but complicated at the same time because I didn't really know what to do during Graphics but then everyone helped me do what I was supposed to do.

★ Learning About Matariki ★ byKatrina

On the 13th of June every Maori in the senior block went to Te Oro to learn lots of things about Matariki. We all learnt how to find Matariki in the sky and we also learnt that the Southern Cross never rises and it never sets.

People think of the group of stars as a mother and her daughters. The mothers' name is Matariki and the daughters' names are Tupu-a-nuku,

Instructions on how to find Matariki for yourself.
Maybe you can try and see the star cluster in the sky. Tupu-a-rangi, Waiti, Waita, Waipungarangi and Ururangi.

All you need to do is firstly wake up before 6 o'clock, and then at 6 o'clock go outside and look for the Southern Cross and if you've find it try and find Matariki but remember to use the Southern Cross to help you.

๐Ÿ”งLast Day Of Tech ๐Ÿ”ง by Katrina

Today on the 5th of April was the last day of Technicraft because next week there is a display at Te Oro and most of the people are going.

Today in Mr Grundy's class I was making my toy. My toy is a tractor. I am almost done with my tractor. I only started a few weeks ago and I am very proud of myself.

After the lesson we all have to sit on the benches and only four of the year seven's swept the floor, because there were only four brooms.

The photo above is showing us sitting on the bench and people sweeping the floor.
