πŸ˜„ Orienteering πŸ˜„ by Meana

Yesterday I attended my first Orienteering. At first it was kind of nerve racking because I didn't know what to do. Once I received my piece of paper and map I quickly ran around looking for attachments. It was kind of hard to concentrate with the cold air blowing upon my face. After running around it started to ease down and I was really tired but I managed to keep going. As I became more familiar with the course it was like a piece of cake. Finally I darted off to Mr Leon and I was so surprised because I came first. I jumped with joy. Once everyone slowly made there way back and calmed down we all sat their patiently waiting. Overall Orienteering was so much fun. Do you love Orienteering?

πŸƒ My Experience At St Kents πŸƒ by Meana

I walked into class and noticed on the board that we have St Kents Day! I jumped with joy, it's been nearly 2 years since I last went there, this was my opportunity to go again. Once the bell rang everyone who was invited to come bolted off like a cheetah especially me. I was glad that I had Tupouseini, Vika and Mary to support me. As we walked to the bus like mature students we quickly seated ourselves and off we went. When we arrived we were so happy that we quickly rushed off the bus and waited in our class lines. We had different but fun activities to do. I'm so excited to see what we'll be doing next.

🌞 What A Beautiful Day To Do Fitness 🌞 by Meana

Today was a wonderful day to do running. Even though it was a bit chilly it still turned out very good. After the long weekend everyone looked shattered and tired. Looking at the sky it was crystal clear and really sunny to at least do some exercise. Once the bell rang everyone walked casually like always and stood in line to wait for Mr Reid. When Mrs Golder started the timer everyone dashed off in a flash. About five minutes into the fitness, everyone was puffed out, but I had fun anyway.

School Begins 😁 by Meana

I woke up extremely excited to go to school. I actually thought that 2 whole weeks without any learning and no friends was a bit too long. On the way to school I felt a slight chill heading towards me. As I slowly walked closer to class I spotted all my friends, I jumped with joy. As soon as the bell rang everyone walked casually to their daily fitness. I think that my first day back at school was really fun!!

Lights, Camera, Action πŸŽ₯ by Meana

For the past few weeks a group of students from Rooms 11 and 12 had the chance to create a slide presentation for Te Oro. Only the best students were chosen,

The students who were chosen were those who showed high standard in art and writing. They were myself, Athens, Katrina, Saluselo, Mika, Min Zin, Jack and Maia. For the first few days we spent time organising our ideas so that we knew what we wanted on the slides.

My plan was to create an inforgraphic about four different pests, around our local area. Our main purpose was to  make it interesting, creative and entertaining.

Now there is only one more week to memorise and focus on our learning.

Teamwork Leads To Success πŸ“š by Meana

This year it's all about Learn, Create and Share! Our class is combined with Room 11, and we're always working together and sharing our ideas with each other when we are learning. We're all preparing and studying for our upcoming tests. Since the year 8 students will  be heading off to college next year there will be more opportunities and challenges to face. Now is the time to set our goals.

Where's Mrs GolderπŸ€”by Meana

I came to school, only to see that Mrs Golder wasn't here today. Where is she? Why didn't she come to school? Why was there another teacher here? Many questions were going through my head. Then that's when I possibly knew, Mrs Golder was probably sick today. I have to be honest I really wanted her to come to school! Now we can't take our Chromebook's home! Aarrgghh I really hope she comes tomorrow.

Tests πŸ˜“ by Meana

Last week we started another test! It was really complicated. I wasn't really ready but I knew our teacher had prepared us for our test. So I didn't have anything to worry about. We already sat our Vocabulary, Reading and Writing tests. I think I did well. Next to come is Maths. Something that I'm alright at. But fingers crossed that I pass.

Mrs Pine's Math Lesson! by Meana

A few weeks ago Mrs Pine came in take us for a maths lesson - it was statistics. Some students from Rooms 11 and Room 12 selected to have this lesson with Mrs Pine and the rest were with Mrs Vickers. We were told to split into four groups. In my group were myself, Marantha, Sione, Athens and Meafou. It was very frustrating because no one in our group knew what to do especially me but I thought they all did a very good job sharing their ideas.

Thank You Vector Arena

Here's Meana's View of her Vector Arena Outing:

Last Week Athens, Azahar, Lupe and me were chosen from our class to go to the Vector Arena!!! .We had so much fun that we didn't want to leave Vector. The manager took us for a tour to show us what they actually do - we went to so many different rooms that it was like a maze. At the end of the tour we finally went back to the Basketball Room to have our wonderful morning tea. While we were having morning tea they were handing out prizes at the same time. Some from Room Nine and Ten received one and so did I and sadly that was the end of our tour.

Our Second Time by Athens

On Monday, it was our second time hosting the Senior Syndicate Assembly. This time we didn't have as much time as we did for our last assembly. We only had Friday and Monday to plan what we were going to say and what we were going to do. Meana and Aydrian decided to do Class Feuds, Jack Daniel and Azahar chose the music and the rest had to say some things at assembly.

For Class Feuds, Meana  asked the students questions and they had to answer them correctly but there was more than one answer and each answer was worth different points. Room 9 ended up winning by 10 points, Room 10 had seven points, Room 11 zero points, and room 12 had three points.

Fruit Kebab Movie by Anavea

Two weeks ago we were put into two teams to make a movie about Healthy Foods.

We had to make a movie that was about two minutes long. Before we could make it we had to plan out what we were going to be doing. It took us about three days to plan it. When that was done we had to practice our lines. All of us had about three days to practice our lines, before we could start making our movie.

Heilala and I brought in some fruits to use for our kebabs.Once the movie was made we were able to add music to the storyboard. We had about five days to do this. Once that was done we had to publish it. Well done!

Congratulations to Meana

Becoming  A Prefect

Yesterday at assembly Mrs Vickers  announced who will be prefects for 2016. Our class and Room 11 were anxious including myself.  I heard my name called up with two boys from Room 11. I received my badge along with the notice for my parents.
After assembly some teachers congratulated me and I was relieved that I had someone to help me through things.

Welcoming The New Prefects by Heilala

On Wednesday we had our first assembly for 2016. Mrs Vickers had a special announcement.  She left the announcement  to the end. Once she got all her notices out of  the way, next was the SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!! The special news was  that there were going to be new prefects.  Before she said the new prefect names she got Quros and I to say  a few things on how to become a good prefect. Finally, we finished talking and it was Mrs Vickers turn. The new prefects are Meana Min Zin and Sione. I was in shock when my brother was called to become a new prefect. Congratulations to the new prefects!
