Technology Wood Works by Nurul

The first day of technology, wood works we had to draw 8 main ideas of the things we wanted to make and the drawing must have a joint.

My first idea was a race car, my second idea was a school bus. I had drawn over 44 ideas and I disliked them all but the ones I really liked were the train, bird,  house, dispenser, helicopter, pull along tray, and a piano. I chose to do a piano because it looked incredible and I feel happy that I finally finished drawing what I want to make.

The End Of Rippa Rugby by Kate

The Rippa Rugby sessions for Rooms 9 to 12 have now ended. It's sad that they had to end but we did learn a lot about how to pass, throw and actually play Rippa rugby!

Unfortunately during our last session Room 9 won 3 rugby balls from our coach Corey who told us that whoever has the most points by throwing would win.

I enjoyed rippa rugby and learned many things. I especially loved playing bull rush because it's fun dodging other people who are trying to rip your tag off. I hope that the next 2 terms are full of more rippa rugby lessons.

NZ Music Month-By Kate

Music month in New Zealand is a way to celebrate all the music made in New Zealand including the musicians them self. The New Zealand music month first started off as music week but by 2001 it had became a New Zealand Music Month.

I think its a good idea to have a New Zealand music month that way young musicians can express their voice with the whole country. There are going to be music gigs around the country for young musicians to come and celebrate music. I hope that more people get to make music and find a way to express it!

My First Ever Wood Joint! by Kate

Yesterday at Technicraft it was the best as it was the day that I got to cut out my first joint! It was really uneven but yet it was still okay to cut out.

I tried to make my joints even but Mr Grundy had to cut it out and make it smooth.
As I was cutting my joint up to half way I accidentally went a bit over the marking line.

After I did that Mr Grundy smoothed out my finished joint which I could attach to my other piece of wood!

Woodwork At Tech! by Kate

Today at technicraft I was making the joints for my design. I had to make sure that my joints were alike and had the exact measurements. It took a while to draw my joints because every time I tried to draw it, it was either uneven or in the wrong spot.

It was about the 5th time I tried and got it right, then I was able to move on. I  chiselled my joints to make an effort to finish it. After that I was so happy to be able to finish my work and move on!

Tech! by Tristan

At Tech it was a bit different because we had a substitute teacher. It was still fun and amusing as usual. I made a design for a clock I'm thinking of creating. I know that it's not perfect but this one is just for practice.

The design is from an anime I watch called SEVEN DEADLY SINS. I copied the design but I alternated it slightly.

It was a great experience for me because I'm not that good at drawing.

Cybersmart Safe Passwords๐Ÿ’ป by Kate

Last week was one of the weeks that Rom 12 had to rewind their minds to see if our knowledge of cybersmart was still clear.

We managed to still keep some knowledge about cybersmart but not a lot.

We had to make a lot of decisions on what we want to focus on and I chose the most important one which is Cybersmart passwords.

You can use a line from a song or waiata or a quote from a story to keep your password safe.

๐Ÿ˜„ Orienteering ๐Ÿ˜„ by Meana

Yesterday I attended my first Orienteering. At first it was kind of nerve racking because I didn't know what to do. Once I received my piece of paper and map I quickly ran around looking for attachments. It was kind of hard to concentrate with the cold air blowing upon my face. After running around it started to ease down and I was really tired but I managed to keep going. As I became more familiar with the course it was like a piece of cake. Finally I darted off to Mr Leon and I was so surprised because I came first. I jumped with joy. Once everyone slowly made there way back and calmed down we all sat their patiently waiting. Overall Orienteering was so much fun. Do you love Orienteering?
