All Blacks lose To England-By Tristan

The All Blacks lost to England in the semi-final of the Rugby World Cup. The All Blacks lost with the score at 19-7. Now England will move on to the final playing against South Africa for 1st and 2nd, and the All Blacks will play Wales for the 3rd and 4th spot.

Kayaking At Vector Wero Whitewater Park-By Ana

On Friday Room 8 went on a trip to Vector Wero Whitewater Park, we got the chance to kayak with professionals and wear swimsuits. Once we all had the special gear on we had to get in a line from the shortest to tallest. The reason for that was because the instructors needed to give us the right kayak that our legs and our body could fit in. After that we got to go in the water. 
A Lot of people were struggling in the beginning but they got the hang of it. We had to follow the instructors all the way to the bridge. We learnt heaps from today and it was super cool.

New Term - Fresh Start! -By Liza

Term three has officially started after a two week  holiday.  New activities are coming up during the term  that we have to work hard for so we can do them. Students will have the chance to enter the netball interschools team and be involved with the skip off. 

I am going to try work hard as I have one more term left after this before I go to college.. 

Tamaki College Interview and Activity Day: By Konzay

Last Wednesday we had tech at Tamaki college. After tech us Year 8's were left behind because we had a T.C interview. The year 7's had to go back to Ruapotaka with Mr Reid. Mrs Golder stayed with us. We had lots of fun at Tamaki college and there was pizza for lunch.

After we we finished our lunch we had P.E. We played badminton with students from Tamaki  college. It was lots of fun, and then we went to art with a lady that showed us her art that she designed. When we were finished art we took a photo and headed back to school in a van.

On Monday Ruapotaka met some Visitors from ERO ( Education Review Office) the man's name was Richard and the woman's name was Pam.

We first welcomed them in to our school with a fantastic greeting, then they introduced them self to us and then Sosiua told Mrs Hamilton to stand up so that she could tell us that they will be here till Thursday.

When we were done Jessica told the ERO people that they could leave while all the classes sang a song for them, after they went Jessica told the classes to go back to their class room to do some more learning.  

Tech Wood-Work By Konzay

Today my partners and l are doing wood-work at Tamaki Collage for Tech.

What is it?
The  object that I am going to be making out of wood is a space-car.

Why choose this one?
I really like cars so that's why l want to make this item and also because my brother likes cars too.

What is it for?
This object would be a space-car.

Who is it for?
My space-car would be for my little brother who is only 5 years old.

How will it be used?
It would be used to make my brother think that he would be in space with a car.

Where will it be used?
It would be in my brother's room on the top of the ceiling.

Is there anything l have to consider for it's safe use?
To sand-paper the side so that it won't hurt my brother.

Who's The Head Prefect? by Jessica

Last year we had to say goodbye to the year 8 Prefects. It was sad to see them go.

A new year has begun and new Prefects have been selected. Working alongside me this year we have, Madisyn, Agueer, Frank, Sione and of course, Riiana and Leanah. It turns out that I was chosen to be Head Prefect.

Many know me as Jessica or Jess. I am 12 years old turning 13. I have a humorous love for art and sleeping.

As the head prefect I am expected to be a positive role model. Someone who always tells the truth, someone who has manners and someone who is inspiring or encouraging but honestly, the list could go on forever.

Knowing that a lot of students and the teachers can trust me and support me through out my last year in intermediate makes me happy. This year is going to be one of my wildest. My parents want me to get into a good college with benefits of a great future. Right now I could care less about college because all I need to worry about is where I'm at now. Pushing myself until I can't, working my bottom off until I'm satisfied with my results. My current goal is to be better than before. A phrase that's been by my side ever since I started at Ruapotaka, will stay with me until I'm satisfied and need a well deserved break. Until that day comes I'll be working hard.

Speeches by Sosiua

Speeches are coming up. I don't want to go up on stage because it horrifies me that everyone is going to be sitting there just staring at me. It'll be so embarrassing if I do something wrong. I just don't think I have the skills and potential to do it, but I have to because everyone has to do one and who knows I might be picked for the finals.
