Duffy Award by Sosiua

Today at school we had reading. We were reading a book called ANZACs at Galipolli and we had to look for the definition for every word we didn't know. While searching we discovered there were multiple definitions for some of the words. We had to  pick one and give a reason for our choice.

I gave sensible reasons why I chose the meaning to lots of words.

Then we had lunch and played outside and then the bell rang and everyone went to the multi purpose room for our whole school assembly. When we were at the assembly the first thing we did was sing the New Zealand national anthem.

After that the prefects talked about being safe around roads, listening to your teacher and more. Lastly, we then had our Duffy awards and I received one.  I was so surprised and I got to choose a book to take home and read.

πŸ‘ Creating Charity Logos At Tech πŸ‘ by Mary

Today we designed a charity logo for sports funding for people who need help with sports gear. I finally completed my assignment.  I designed my logo with some PE (Physical Exercise) items on it, like rugby balls, baseballs etc. I really like what I've made here. It captures the objective of the lesson. I hope it will make a difference to my mark.

Working With Metal! by Robati

On Wednesday the year 8's and Saint Pius attended Mr Grundy's Woodwork Workshop.

I had to trace my drawing with a pencil and insert it into a piece of wood. Later on Mr Grundy showed us his deadly machine. It was so fierce the blade was moving fifty times per second! Luckily,  the teacher has a key to it on and off.

My design was a cross. It has sharp edges. Mr Grundy had to be careful with my design. He boiled some special metal called pewter and poured the liquid into the gaps in the piece of wood.

Our Syndicate Assembly- By Julianne.

On the last Monday before the Easter break, Room12 presented a syndicate assembly.

First we started of with a lovely song called This Is Me by: Kesha.

After we sang it we played our little game called "Syndicates got talent." The contestants from each class were Aleki and Ong Minout from Room 9 who danced to a song called Jump, the contestants from Room 10 were Unita and Reality who sang Flashlight by Jessie J and then, when it was finally our turn our presenters Katrina and Pupuke sang a lovely Maori song called Tiaho Mai Ra.

Then the whole Syndicate finished of with our school song♡

River Talks- By Konzay

Two weeks ago some of the Ruapotaka senior student kids went walking down near Tamaki College. The  presenters  were talking about the river  because people put dirty things in the river and our fish and eels won't survive the pollution.  We learned lots of information from the presenters and the audience  loved what they saw and heard.
