Yesterday's Assembly by Lupe

I Was Not Here For My Certificate !!!,

 Yesterday I was absent and Rooms 9, 10, 11 and 12 had a syndicate assembly. While they were handing out the certificates I was at home sick. I had never had a certificate this year so I didn't think I would get one. I came to school and some of the year eights were saying that I had got a certificate.

I had thought that they were lying but then after fitness Mrs Golder had told me in front of the class that I got a certificate for handing in my homework on time and receiving an A- for the first time. I was surprised and really happy for myself. Now I know that if I do my homework I won't get into trouble.

Duffy Assembly by Quros

On Friday afternoon the school had to go to the Multipurpose room for a special Duffy Assembly. I was chosen to say a short Thank You speech to our special guest Ravinder. Firstly everyone had to be seated until Meana, one of our Year 7 prefects led our visitor into the Multipurpose. When she came in everyone had to be very quiet, next Mrs Pederson introduced her to our school and then she had introduced herself. 

Ravinder had talked about how reading is important and a little bit about herself. After that we had sang the Duffy Song. Next I had to get up and say my speech in front of Ravinder. 

My Speech To Ravinder:
"On behalf of Ruapotaka School I would like to say, 'Thank You Ravinder'  for coming here and talking and advising us about reading. Just as reading is important to you reading is also important to us. I think it's a great idea that you're a part of the Duffy Programme because now we get to receive our Duffy Books."

Lava Lamp Science Experiment by Jack Daniel

On Wednesday we did a science experiment making a Lava Lamp. We had split up into groups and tried to figure out ways to make a lava lamp. We typed down our aim, hypothesis, ingredients and results. For some of the groups it worked out but unfortunately for the other groups, it didn't work out.

On Monday all the boys were called up to fill the garden with bark. It looked tiring but they finished it on Tuesday and got a reward. They were a little dirty but they managed to clean the nasty dirt off.
